Rebound
A lounge chair made entirely from recycled materials. As a long-time tennis player, years of dead balls had accumulated — balls that have lost their bounce and would otherwise be thrown away — so they were run through the washing machine to restore their bright yellow, then used as upholstery. The base is cardboard. The fluid silhouette was drawn from the curve of the tennis ball seam, and the result has an unexpected sensory quality: round, springy, and surprisingly comfortable.
Pinecone
An earring and necklace ensemble hand-formed from ceramics, with the pinecone as the starting point for the design. The object the earrings rest on in several of the photos is limestone sourced from the Province of Ontario.
Painting and Drawings
Triptych
România
Three oil paintings made after a trip to Romania — each one a small moment captured separately, but belonging to the same experience. The ping pong table, the cathedral, and a snail gliding through a puddle after the rain: things seen, things that stayed.
